America's Got......wade

America’s Got Wade
9/25/08

I guess with all of the “Money talk” going on I should be talking about President Bush’s “15 minutes” last night.
I don’t really have the money smarts to make too many comments on it, plus directly after the President’s speech, NBC aired the second to last show of this season’s AMERICA’S GOT TALENT.
In the past, I prided myself in not getting hooked on any TV programs.
A few years back we started watching Dancing with the Stars. DANCING. I never would have thought. Now believe me, it is hard for us to miss Dancing With the Stars.
Then this show LOST came out. Still not hooked (I didn’t watch it but wanted to….no time). Then my wife and I started watching Lost DVD’s then we watched them on the Web until we caught up to where the sow was on the current season (last season - #4), then we never missed.
Then we see a TV commercial for America’s Got Talent. We see these street acrobats from New Orleans on one of the promos. We were hooked – before the show aired. We wanted to see these guys on TV (a group we have probably seen 10 plus times on the streets of New Orleans).
We started watching the show and in the whole season we missed one episode. This was the second to last episode prior to the performers who moved on were to go to Vegas. This was a very important episode. Our local NBC affiliate – Channel 6 in New Orleans decided to show a Saints pre season game instead. A stupid pre season football game that was also being showed on ESPN. Makes no sense. We sent e mail letters. No response.
Anyway, if we wouldn’t have seen the promo with the New Orleans street acrobats, we probably would not have started watching AGT.
What a great show to get hooked on. Even Jerry Springer is good on it (he is the MC).
A Thought: Jerry Springer is in New Orleans a lot (we actually saw him once). I wonder if he watched our New Orleans AGT contestants on the street.
Last night’s episode was the final 5. The final 5 performed for America’s votes. Talk about some remarkable talent.
Donald Braswell – This guy can sing. One day he will be on Broadway. He has that much voice and talent.
Queen Emily – WOW! She proves that there are many people in America who have the talent but are not singing professionally. If she doesn’t win AGT (or even if she does) you will see a record from her in the future. Her voice is breathtaking.
Nuttin But Stringz – These are 2 brothers from New York who play violins. They just don’t play the violins; they take the violin to new and exciting levels. We didn’t realize until a couple of weeks ago that all of the music they have been playing has been original scores. That fact makes their act even more impressive.
Eli Mattson - same as Queen Emily. Awesome voice. Eli can sing and back it up with splendid piano playing.
Neal E. Boyd – Opera at it’s finest. This man can sing. He can sing anything, not just Opera, but I can picture him soon headlining in an Opera. He is better than great.

It is funny, early on; Boyd, Emily and Mattson were 3 of our favorites. I liked Nuttin But Stringz but I was not overly impressed.
If I had to vote for one.
It would have to be Nuttin But Stringz.
There show is Las Vegas. It is captivating. It is spectacular.
Take nothing away from the singers competing against them. They voices are overwhelming. Their voices are magical. And I believe all 4 would do well in Vegas. They would do great, but Nuttin But Stringz, like I said, IS VEGAS.
Watch October 1 as the winner of America’s Got Talent is revealed.

Before I forget.
Thank you St. Louis for beating up on Arizona 3 straight.
Thank you Dodgers for winning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DODGERS WIN THE WEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
